The 2017 Elsie Dairy Pageant took place March 18th at 7:00pm in the high school auditorium. Junior Kylie Hunt was crowned this year’s Dairy Queen along with Allie Lynn Minarik who earned the Dairy Princess title. The rest of the 2017 results include First Runner Ups junior Katie Ridgeway and Zoa Grace Orozco, Second Runner Ups senior Brenna Rambo and Norah Rose Cherrette, and Third Runner Up senior Katelyn Kalocy.

Throughout the pageant the Royalty is required to participate in multiple different events including: appearance or fun wear, formal wear, speech, and a private interview.

In fun wear participants are asked to pick an outfit that represents how they like to spend their time and hobbies they enjoy.

“Well, I bounced a lot around in my head and I saw what all the other girls wore and it was something that made you stand out so I decided to wear my pizza uniform,” Ridgeway said about her fun wear choice. “I don’t think a lot of people expected that from me but it was good crowd pleaser.”

For formal wear and speech participants are required to present in formal attire or gowns. The speech portion consists of delivering a speech in response to a question in front of a live audience.

“It was very eye opening and it broke me out of my comfort zone,” Ridgeway said. “Learning how to walk and present myself was a learning experience and there’s definitely more to come.”
