The Marshall Mathers LP is Eminem’s third studio album and offers 18 great songs. It was released on May 23, 2000 and is one of the best Hip Hop albums of all time with total sales of around $21 million. The album was mostly produced by Dr. Dre and Eminem with help of The 45 King, the Bass Brothers and Mel-Man and includes songs like The Real Slim Shady and Stan. In this album Eminem talks about his rise out of poverty, the criticism of his music and the relationship with his family. In songs like “Kill You” he talks about his childhood struggles and in “Kim”about the struggles with his wife.”Stan”, “Marshall Mathers” and “I’m back,” however, talk about his problems with being a star and the expectations it brings..The Marshall Mathers LP is more autobiographical than most of his former albums. It also includes some satirical fun songs. The best thing about this album is that on one song he has one of the best punchlines in the whole rap world and on the next song he’s joking around. He’s also never using the same rhyme patterns twice or even the same voice. Even though some may think that it is one of the best Hip Hop/Rap albums ever, it’s also a very criticized album because of some lyrics that definitely are hurtful to a certain group of people. I’d rate this album a nine out of ten.
