The federal government shutdown continues without an end in sight. In just a few days, tens of millions of people are at risk of losing federal food and nutrition benefits as a result. This includes the nearly 42 million people who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP, formerly referred to as food stamps. With this happening, many people will go hungry because they will have no food stamps.
The Trump administration has warned that the debit-like EBT cards will not be refilled. There are 15.0% who don’t have food stamps in Michigan at this time, and snap, the country’s largest anti-hunger program. The government said that they have no idea when they will give the EBT cards back around October 30, when they will have another meeting to see of more people wil get it back or not.
