On Sept. 28th, Ovid Elsie FFA went and helped at Shiawassee Co Farm Bureau and our own FFA members got to do demonstrations and other activities to show 400 local second graders from Shiawassee Co the importance of agriculture.
Chase Kline and Hudson Winans are two of the many members that went and presented to these second graders. They set up a booth that taught them the importance of sugar beets. Although they were there to teach the younger generation the importance of sugar beets, they learned information themselves. According to Winans, he learned that, “900 farmers farm in the state of 160,000 acres and that Michigan produces 1.3 billion pounds of sugar beets each year.”
