The Ovid-Elsie Girls Varsity soccer team played in a non conference game against Flushing on Thursday night. “Flushing is an extremely high quality team that plays right on the edge.” Head Coach Craig Thelen said. “They were able to frustrate us at times tonight. However, I think that we hung right with them and I believe our players learned something about themselves tonight; I think they are starting to see how good they can be and that they can hang with anybody when they play together. We came out strong and did a great job of possessing the ball in the midfield, leading to a breakaway for Bancroft. Our defense did a wonderful job of slowing down one of the best attackers we’ve seen in a very long time. Eventually, foul trouble hurt us tonight, but I am really excited to see these girls play so well and so hard. I believe that we are continuing to improve and these types of games will only make us stronger.” Unfortunately the great game by the Marauders wasn’t quite enough to put them ahead, leaving the game with a score of 3-1, Flushing. The Lady Marauders will have yet another home game against Eaton Rapids next Wednesday at 4:30.
