Marauder Varsity Football Victorious Over Chesaning

The Ovid-Elsie Marauders emerge victorious 49-13 in their Homecoming game against the
Chesaning Indians. Both teams entered this game with a 3-2 record and once again the outcome
of the game was unclear. However, the Marauders had full stands and a show to put on for their
Homecoming audience.
Offensively, Ovid-Elsie dominated. The Maraudes had 395 total offensive yards compared to a
measly 93 put up by the Indians. Touchdowns were earned on the ground by running backs
Cohen Tyler, Carter Kelley, and quarterback Tryce Tokar. They all had one rushing touchdown
each, with Logan Thompson scoring another two off the rush. Additionally, Thompson earned
another touchdown through the air, along with Clay Wittenberg.
Defensively, the team was led by Landon Stoneman, Clay Wittenberg, and Braxton Stenger.
They each had one interception, and a combined 17 tackles. The Marauder Defense pushed the
Indians into the backfield with -10 total rushing yards. However, they did allow 103 passing
yards.
This week, the Ovid-Elsie looks to face off away against the New Lothrop Hornets. With a
Victory over New Lothrop and a Hornets’ victory over the Durand Railroaders, the Marauders
could clutch a share of the Conference Championship title. Additionally, an Ovid-Elsie win
would be significant towards the Ovid-Elsie playoff run and open the possibility of a home
game.
