Murder Mystery 2 Fall Flat as Sequel

This past March Netflix Released the sequel to the 2019 film Murder Mystery. Murder Mystery 2 is a 2023 American action comedy
mystery film directed by Jeremy Garelick and written by James Vanderbilt. Starring popular actor, Adam Sandler, and actress,
Jennifer Aniston. After the first movie Nick (Adam Sandler) and Audrey (Jennifer Aniston) decide to become full time detectives but
now are struggling to get their private eye agency off the ground. That is until Nick and Audrey Spitz find themselves at the center of
an international abduction when their friend the Maharaja is kidnapped at his own lavish wedding. Rotten Tomatometer rated this a
46% and audience a 48% with top critic stating, “A genially mediocre sequel to its similarly middling predecessor, Murder Mystery 2
could have been much better.” We would have to agree with this because it just felt like it was an unnecessary sequel. Sure there
were definitely a couple of laughs, the jokes and the comedy kept us intrigued, but the movie just felt pointless and there was no new
storyline to it, it basically felt the same as the first one. The film needed to try to do something new with the formula rather than trying
to make the movie more over the top. The film is exceptionally less funny from the last and its characters, which was a strong point of
the first one, are lackluster. The first film’s jokes and characters are what made the movie entertaining and in the sequel the
characters return but are not as interesting or funny as the first. We rate this movie a 5/10.
