Blue Beetle is a movie directed by Angel Manuel Soto that was released on August 18, 2023. The main character is played by Xolo Mariduena on his trip with an alien technological symbiote called the Blue Beetle. The movie has made 121 million at the box office which is higher than its budget 104 when it first started being made.
Blue Beetle takes right out of DC with its characters and conflict much like what the MCU used to do with its movies. The main character Jaime finds himself possessing an artifact which is later on discovered to be called the Blue Beetle which is also alien and biotechnology. Being gifted a suit that helps him be a superhero he goes on a path to change his planned destiny. Many reviews talk about the story within Blue Beetle and how it is charming yet that charm doesn’t take away from the main hero aspect of the movie. One review says that Blue Beetle is good proof that the right blend of heart, passion, and superheroes can make a great movie. They gave the movie a 3/5 while another gave the movie a 3/5 as well saying the special effects weren’t that special but the family was warm and inviting. Overall the movie was given a 92% by the audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
Overall Blue Beetle is a great movie that really shines in the sea that is DC movies. It’s a definite improvement from the other DC movies that had horrible ratings by both the audience and movie reviewers. I would personally give this movie a 4/5 with the story and characters being the best part of the movie. Really getting to the hearts of all the viewers.
