The Kissing Booth series is known for its teen romance and coming-of-age themes. It
follows the life and romantic entanglements of a high school girl, Elle Evans, played by Joey
King, and her best friend, Lee Flynn, played by Joel Courtney.
The films typically revolve around the complications that arise
from the rules of their friendship and their involvement in the
kissing booth.
The audience has mixed opinions on the series. Some
viewers enjoy the lighthearted and entertaining aspects of the
movies, while others find fault in the story’s predictability. It is
important to note that these movies are primarily aimed at a
younger audience and are easy-going rom-coms.
The Rotten Tomato meter is 24%. Movie critics feel this
movie is tolerable. I have watched all of the Kissing Booth movies
and feel they struggle to show the growth of characters. The first
movie begins by introducing the characters and their life. As it
progresses, it becomes more and more intolerable.
The second movie, The Kissing Booth 2, introduces the
struggle between Elle Evans and her boyfriend, Noah Flynn. This
movie drags on throughout its two-hour run. The characters continue to show less and less
depth.
The Kissing Booth 3 is an unneeded drag-on. It officially closes Elle Evan’s chapter
without any way of getting to know her true identity. The series introduces the same problems. It
delivers a lackluster, overstuffed story that does not care to give its leading lady any personality.
Movie critics confirm you can pass up this movie series.
Overall, I give this movie a 1/10. This movie does not have emotional depth or character
depth. This movie targets a younger audience. However, it is not enough for today’s teenagers.
It is repetitive and exhausting, with a lack of entertainment. I do not recommend this movie to
any audience.
