The Beekeeper was directed by David Ayer and released to theaters on January 12, 2024. The main character is played by the famous actor Jason Statham. It had a budget of around 40 million and made around 60 million at the box office. Movies today struggle to make more than their budget so some saw it as a surprise.
The Beekeeper is about a man fighting for vengeance after someone close to him is driven to harm. The fight takes to a national level after he is revealed to be a former member of the organization known as the Beekeepers. At first, those who were the scammers underestimated him but it wasn’t long before they realized who he was. However, they can’t stop him now and he hunts for them so he can take their lives. The Beekeepers did very well as it has a 92% on the audience score which is super high. It has a 71% on the Tomatometer which is a bit lower but not horrible. One review gave it a 3/4 saying the movie was a guilty pleasure and one of Jason Statham’s best movies. Another gave it a 2.5/4 saying it had wacky action yet still managed to be a good movie and recommended the movie. Overall the reviews are good with a few standing out with poor scores. Those who did not like the movie pointed out that the movie went off course and didn’t stay true to itself all the time. Some even said the funny moments ruined the overall feel of the movie.
I liked the movie. I’m a huge action fan and this movie had a decent amount of action in it. The story was a bit weird at times but managed to stay somewhat cohesive so I was able to enjoy the movie. The human managed to add to the movie instead of making it seem dumb. I especially loved Jason Statham’s performance as he always manages to stand out and give his best in his movies. I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves movies or wants to see Jason Statham on the big screen.
