In a highly anticipated matchup between two of the best Division One colleges, the Michigan Wolverines and Purdue Boilermakers both gave an epic performance. The game was set for Sunday, February 25th, 2024 which was a home game for the Wolverines and this surely gave them the home advantage with all of their fanbase being there to support them. The Michigan fans were surely awaiting a big win for the Wolverines because of their disappointing progress with their basketball season. This is because the Wolverines have lost their past four games and hope that they pull off an upset win.
Back when it was the football season and played each other, the Wolverines beat the Boilermakers with a score of 41-13. They showed that they were the most dominant college football team of that season because they would move on to have an undefeated record and beat Washington for the national championship. As they moved on to basketball, they lost their focus on the program because their coaching staff and players were not putting in their all into the games. This problem with their program is the main reason why they are last in the big ten and not even ranked. The last time that they competed with one another was on the 23rd of January of this year and that was when Purdue demolished the Wolverines defense by outscoring them with 32 points.
When it came to the actual game, the Wolverines were yet again to disappoint their fanbase because they lost the game with a score of 84-76. Some saw it as another Michigan loss but others saw it as a stepping stone for them. Even though Purdue won, Michigan was very competitive in this game and only lost by eight points to a number two-ranked team which isn’t that terrible. If the Wolverines play just like how they did in the Purdue game, they could finish off the season with a strong notice by beating the remaining opponents and improving in the offseason.
