On Monday, May 6th, 2024, two of the most outstanding and competitive NBA teams known as the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves competed with each other in the second game of their series in the conference semifinals in the NBA playoffs. The first game where they faced each other in the playoffs was a very shocking but expected game to watch as the Timberwolves came out with the first win of the series. The first game was won by a seven-point difference of 106-99 with the help of NBA all-star Anthony Edwards or known as “ANT”, putting up 43 points in this game. This game was very shocking to many fans because they did not expect the Nuggets with the help of Nikola Jokic to lose because of their Championship win last year. Also, the Nuggets knew that if they wanted to beat the Timberwolves, they would have to pick up their defense and most pressure Anthony Edwards and not let the Timberwolves defense guard them up every single time.
Unfortunately in this game, even though they attempted to add defensive pressure to Edwards, they could not stop him enough and the Nuggets scorers had a bad game because they kept on getting locked up by the the Timberwolves defenders. The result of the game was that the Timberwolves would win this game with a better score of 106-80. This game was even worse for the Denver Nuggets than their last game because they put up fewer points and now make it a twenty-six-point differential. Also with the addition of the Timberwolves defensive pressure to Nikola Jokic worked even better than the Lakers which was the main reason why the Timberwolves won. The Nuggets fanbase was disappointed with the outcome as they expected the game to be an easy sweep and win the championship back to back. However, the Timberwolves had a remarkable game where they used the same technique as the first game and used their defense to the best. Although Anthony Edwards wasn’t able to up a lot of points, he and Karl-Anthony Towns scored twenty-seven points together putting up 54 points together. The Timberwolves fans can for sure celebrate this back-to-back victory as they are going down a good path if everyone in the team is healthy and active. For their next game which will happen on Friday, May 10, 2024, the Nuggets will need to work better as a team and work on their defense if they want any chance of beating the Timberwolves.
