Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, was nominated as vice presidential running mate for Kamala Harris.
Walz has served as the 41st governor of Minnesota since 2019, and since President Joe Biden stepped out of the race for the Democratic Party in the upcoming election, Harris has taken his spot in the running and needed a vice president to run with. Walz accepted the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Walz, who was a teacher, football coach, and also served in the National Guard 24 years, went on stage and announced to the convention, “It’s the fourth quarter. We’re down a field goal,” “But we’re on offense and we’ve got the ball. We’re driving down the field. And boy, do we have the right team.” Walz also added, “We’re going to leave it on the field. That’s how we’ll keep moving forward.” He is seeming pretty confident with his position running with Kamala Harris, in the upcoming election.
Many people were also moved by the rest of his speech, including Walz’s son Gus Walz, who has learning disabilities, who stood up after his father’s speech in tears and exclaimed, “That’s my Dad!”
Many Democrats also believe that Walz is the “Hype Equivalent” to Former President Donald Trump who is the main Republican runner for this election.
