William Svensson, age 23, from Sweden, led the opening PBA Bowling Tour Trials on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. He joined the league in 2019 and was shooting +288 on a 35-foot oil pattern at Bowlero Woodridge. He was many of the ones left standing in round 1 he was one of the four Swedish bowlers who managed including Arnar Jonsson from Iceland who now lives in Sweden. Svensson said during an interview before going on to the next round “It feels great to get a good start, It’s still early in the week and there is lots of bowling left, so I’ve got to keep on grinding.” Svensson also said he wanted to continue on tour just like he did last year and in order to achieve that he needs to remain in the top 12 of the Tour Trials and last all 8 rounds. Svensson led in round one shooting +288, Tim Foy Jr. led behind him shooting +283, Andrew Hall shot a +246, David Nothhouse shot +234, Nate Purches shot +232, Rafiq Ismail shot +226, Brad Miller shot +203, Dallas Leong shot +203, Cam Crowe shot +195, Benjy Martinez shot +192, Cortez Schenck shot +192, and Brandon Runk shot +188. The final tour trial is today first one was at 11 a.m. and round 2 is at 6 p.m. all locked at Bowlero Deer Park on a 47ft pattern.
