In the past few years, the Detroit Lions have rekindled their competitiveness in the NFL. The Lions are finally the team to beat in the NFL and currently have the highest percentage to go to the Superbowl in the NFC. The Lions currently hold a 7-1 record after defeating rival Green Bay 24-14 in their own stadium with heavy rain, Lambeau Field. The entire first half of the first quarter was the Green Bay Packers scoring a 30 field goal from Brandon McManus. The lions got the ball and ran it all the way to 1st and goal to take it in the 2nd quarter. Just 4 seconds into the 2nd quarter, Jared Goff found Amon-Ra St Brown on the left side of the end zone for 6, and Jake Bates made it a 7-3 game after a successful PAT. Aside from a missed kick from Brandon McManus because of the poor weather conditions, Nothing happened again until the last minute of the half, when Jake Bates kicked a 27 yard field goal to make it 10-3. The Packers had the ball with a minute left, and everyone thought they would probably get into field goal range and kick a field goal. This did not end up happening because Jordan Love dropped back and took instant pressure, he threw the ball away but he threw it directly into the hand of Lions safety Kerby Joseph, who ran that same interception back for his first career pick 6. With a Jake Bates PAT the game was suddenly 17-3. After halftime the Lions received the ball and ran it down the field all the way to the 15. It was fourth down, and Campbell went for it. Jahmyr Gibbs made the decision right, and ran it in for his only touchdown of the night. With a Jake Bates kick, the game was 24-3. Once again nothing happened again except for a few punts, and Brandon McManus Kicked a 38 yarder to cut the lead to 24-6 at the end of the 3rd. The 4th quarter was all defense, and then the Packers scored a touchdown with Emmanuel Wilson. The Packers went for 2 and Jordan Love threw it to Christian Watson to make the score 24-14. After more defense the Lions eventually finished the game in Victory formation to win 24-14. Jared Goff went 18/22 with 145 yards and a touchdown, another impressive performance from Goff. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery combined for 138 rushing yards and a touchdown, and the receiver of the game was Amon-Ra St Brown who caught every pass thrown to him (7) for 56 yards and Goffs only touchdown pass. Kerby Joseph had a great game, making 4 solo tackles and getting a pick 6. Kicker Jake Bates once again was perfect, 3/3 on PATS, and 1/1 on field goals. These Lions who have seemed unstoppable are now going to play an injured 6-3 Houston Texans team, on the road again for Sunday Night football Primetime at 8, on NBC.
