No Emotion Allowed is one of many albums by DJ Ray Volpe(EDM artist) released on march
26th 2018. The top 3 listened to songs in the album are Rave Rage, Showtime, and Wet
Napkin. This album is your normal classic dubstep of what you would hear back then.
Rave Rage is the most listened to song in this album with 20k listens. It is what you expect with
your average dubstep, very simple, very high pitched synths are involved and your average
electronic and staticy bass. The only difference is that a couple of the drops switch from dubstep
to trap adding something different to the song.
Showtime is the second most listened to song in the album with 14k listens. This is extremely
heavy on the classic dubstep even for it being released in 2018. It is very simple consisting of
bass, synth, drums, vocals, and sampled sounds. There is nothing really that special about this
song; it is just an old classic dubstep type song.
Wet Napkin is the third most listened to song in the album with 13k listens. This song is more of
that classic hyper pop type of song with a dubstep drop or two. At first it consists of a flat synth
line and drums repeating until a build up starts. For people that aren’t into dubstep but want to
try and get into that older style this is probably an easier song to listen to because it starts out
closer to melodic and hyper pop which you might hear more in movies.
Overall, I would have to give this song in this time and age like a 5/10 at most. But back when it
came out, if I were listening to EDM more back then I would probably have to give it a solid
7/10. The reason it’s that much of a difference to me is because today at this standard a lot has
changed in the genre, especially dubstep because like this album kinda shows dubstep used to
be really repetitive and had a lot of high pitched synth involved, but now people are getting more
creative and are able to make one bass or synth sound hundreds of different ways with how
technology is today making it evolve a lot.
