…And Justice For All is the 4th studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica, and was released on August 25th, 1988 through Elektra Records and was Metallica’s first full length studio album to feature Bassist Jason Newstead, after the death of their bandmate, Cliff Burton. The album features a fast and consistent tempo with the vibe only slowing down on a few songs. …And Justice For All contains lyrical themes of political and legal injustices, such as governmental corruption, censorship, and war. Three of its songs were released as singles, “Harvester of Sorrow,” “Eye of the Beholder,” and “One” the title track, “…And Justice for All” was released as the lead promotional single. The album was acclaimed by critics for its lyrical depth and complexity though it also had its faults, with the mixing being more dry than other albums, and the almost inaudible bass guitar. It was successful in the United States, peaking at number six on the Billboard 200, and was certified 8× platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2003 for shipping eight million copies in the U.S. I personally really enjoy this album. Almost all of the tracks hold amazing re-playability and one of my favorite Metallica tracks of all time has to be “One”, where the atmosphere is unmatched. Though the album is squeezed in between arguable their best two albums, Master of Puppets, and their self titled Metallica. I highly recommend giving …And Justice For All a listen.
