Aftershock EP by LAYZ is an edm playlist consisting of 4 songs and is primarily dubstep. The
most popular songs are in order of Ignite, Strike, and Static. It was released just six months ago
in July of 2024.
The most popular song in the album is Ignite which is almost four minutes long. It is a dubstep
song and has 7.3k listens on youtube. It consists of bass, synth, drums, 808, vocals, and
background vocals. The drops in this particular song aren’t necessarily my favorite because
they are very drum based instead of dirty and high pitched bass lines, but it’s still not that bad.
The second most popular song is Strike which is two and a half minutes long. It is once again a
dubstep song and has 4.7k listens on youtube. It consists of bass, synth, drums, some sort of
high pitched percussion, and vocals. The drops once again are a little like the last song focusing
on more of the drums then bass which disappoints me because the starting melody instantly
made me think of the movie Tron legacy which if you have watched you would know what i’m
talking about.
The third most popular song is Static which is two and half minutes long. As expected again it is
another dubstep song and it has 2.4k listens on youtube. It consists of vocals, bass, synth,
drums, and miscellaneous sounds(a tornado alarm, electricity sound effects, etc.) when it comes
to the drops it is once again more focused on the drums but this is the most bass in the drops I
have heard previous, the only sad thing about it is that i’m just not a fan of the drops
themselves, it’s just not my favorite to listen too.
All in all I think I would have to give this album a 5.5/10 mainly because it brought back the
memory of watching Tron legacy. But the music itself just wasn’t my favorite to listen to but
that’s because it’s not really my favorite style of dubstep, so if you like the more drum based
drops in dubstep then I would highly recommend this album.
