Highway Desperado was released on Nov. 3, 2023, and is 46 minutes in length. It
is a country rock album full of musical masterpieces. In this album, he depicts the story of
heartbreak, getting over someone, and love. Songs like Rather Watch You and I’m Over You
express the desire for a long-lasting relationship and getting something worth his time.
A controversial twist to the album was declared with the song Try That In A Small Town
which made many people confused and angry. Not the song in particular, but more the music
video which supposedly promoted violence. One thing that made American Citizens angered
was the lighting of the American flag in the video. In
the song, he says, “Stomp on a flag and light it up.
Yeah, you think you’re tough, well try that in a small
town.” This lyric ultimately sets the tone for a deeper
meaning to the song, mainly referring to the people
who think it is “cool” or “funny” to burn an American
flag. But, people have taken this out of context and
spread many rumors about this song.
On the other hand, this album is a true
masterpiece, every song is something you can listen to
and keep on replay. Highway Desperado is Jason
Aldean’s eleventh studio album with 10 other albums
before that, that are classics for many individuals.
Some argue that his older music will always be
superior, however, in my opinion this album is better
than any other. This album has influenced a tour that he is kicking off on May 23, 2025, in
Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Overall, I would recommend listening to this musical masterpiece. I rate it
a 10/10, no song is bad on this album.
