Minecraft is a 2011 sandbox video game developed and published by Swedish game developer Mojang Studios. The game was originally released on 17 May 2009 by Markus “Notch” Persson using the Java Programming Language. In 2014, Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property were purchased by Microsoft for $2.5 billion. In Minecraft, players explore a procedurally generated, three-dimensional world with virtually infinite terrain made up of voxels. Players can discover and extract raw materials, craft tools and items, and build structures, earthworks, and machines. Depending on their chosen game mode, players can fight hostile mobs, as well as cooperate with or compete against other players in multiplayer. Minecraft is among the best video games of all time, with people of all ages playing and sharing their experiences all over the internet. The game has a huge player base and community, and really shines as a game that anyone can pick up and get the hang of. I really enjoy the creative aspects of the game, with the limitless possibilities and ideas that come with it. Overall if you haven’t tried it, or haven’t picked it up in a while, definitely give Minecraft a go.
