Kendrick Lamar made the album GNX with 12 songs. He released this album on Nov. 22, 2024. This is Lamar’s most recent album released, his 6th studio album. GNX was produced by Soundwave and Jack Antonoff. Lamar makes hip-hop and rap his primary genre.
Lamar is one of the biggest artists in hip-hop culture, with a Pulitzer-winning career, as well as 22 Grammy Awards. In the album GNX, Kendrick has multiple big artists that feature his songs. One of his songs, Luther, features the artist SZA. SZA is an American singer-songwriter and is very talented. She is one of the most popular singers at the moment, with 84.5 million monthly listeners. She is known for her really good voice and puts a very calming mood on songs. Another big artist that is featured in this album is Roddy Rich. Roddy Rich is an American rapper who has over 15 million monthly listeners. Lamar has multiple more features in this album that aren’t as popular but mean something to Kendrick and do a really good job in the music.
All 12 songs in GNX are next-level and are very good songs. My favorite songs in this album are Luther, Hey Now, and TV Off. These are my favorite songs in this album because they are all my type of music and have really good beats to them. Some songs are rapped more slowly in this album, and others are rapped fast to an upbeat rhythm that is very great to listen to. In GNX, Kendrick lyrically talks about his aspirations and achievements, the legacy of Black musical tradition, and the state of hip-hop culture. The songs make me think of how successful Lamar became after not growing up in a good environment.
My rating on GNX is a 9/10 because of how consistent it is and the number of good songs. There is not a single song in this album that I dislike, which is not very common. I would recommend this album to anyone who enjoys listening to rap or hip-hop because Kendrick Lamar does it all.
