The song “Mystical Magical” is a single just released by Benson Boone ( a 22-year-old artist from Monroe, Washington). This song is probably the number one worst song I’ve ever heard. It sounds like he didn’t even put any thought into it.. He thinks its gonna be the song of the summer, but in reality, I think we all know there is no way it will ever happen.
Although this song especially sucks, he has other songs that are awful too. Some of those songs are Cry, and Beautiful Things. There is an interview of him singing beautiful things, and it is horrible. He made it very clear that he needs to keep using Auto-Tune. When he sings normally, you can see has has potential. If he didn’t write bad music and used his voice differently, he could be amazing.
His lyrical decisions for Mystical Magical are very interesting. The chorus starts with “Moonbeam ice cream, taking off your blue jeans, dancing at the movies, cause it feels so mystical, magical.” Ummm… what is moonbeam ice cream? He made a TikTok stating that he didn’t know what moonbeam ice cream is either. He really thought Moonbeam ice cream was gonna hit hard.
Benson has gained a lot of hate just for the lyrics “Moonbeam ice cream taking off your blue jeans” in Mystical Magical…because it truly is awful and everyone can see that. Unfortunately, people have been very mean to him and sent threats just because of that song. Yes, it is a horrible song, but he doesn’t deserve death because he writes really bad music.
The last thing about this song and him as an artist in general is his music videos. The music video for Mystical Magical reminds me of those really bad music videos kids used to make on YouTube when I was young. The production was bad, the dancing was bad, and overall, they just looked like they had too much confidence in what they were doing. It is cute for a kid to do, but a grown man is crazy. So finally Benson Boone is very bad at making music and should really let other people make the music for him, and let other people tell him what to do in the music videos too, he has the potential to be a great artist, he could be so much more popular if he didn’t make music that sounds like it for 7 year olds and has lyrics for people much older.
