Big Brother Smokes is an underground band that currently has around 15 listeners each
month. They released their first EP in 2012 and have not put out any new music since 2016.
Their album, Tabula Rasa, was released on July 22, 2016. This album is a rock album with a
very distinctive sound.
The album begins with the track Golden, a groovy song that gives the feeling of a warm
summer morning. The combination of the drums and vocals gives it a distinct ’70s vibe.
Similarly, the song Hyde, which is their most popular track on Apple Music, captures the same
essence.
A song that really stands out to me is the fourth track on the album, titled In the Mood.
This song has a nostalgic and authentic feel. I view it as a passionate love song, especially with
the opening verse that says, “I’m gonna drown in every ounce of your tiny attitude.” I find this
song to be very cheerful, and it has an overall fantastic vibe.
In conclusion, Big Brother Smokes is an amazing band and deserves a lot more
recognition than it gets. Their album “Tabula Rasa” is a chefs kiss, and I would recommend it to
anyone who likes older music vibes. 10/10.
