On September 14, 2025, the Detroit Lions hosted the Chicago Bears at Ford Field and just annihilated them, shutting them out in the second half and piling up a 52-21 victory. The Bears were able to stay within striking distance early, but the Lions’ offense and opportunistic defense made the game into a blowout.
The first half put the game into motion. The Lions scored first on a 6-yard TD by Jahmyr. The Bears responded with a 28-yard pass from rookie QB Caleb Williams to Rome Odunze. Detroit finished off a short TD run by David Montgomery to be up 14-7. The Bears stayed within reach for a bit; Williams threw a second TD to Odunze in the second quarter to get to 21-14. But with seconds left before halftime, Detroit added a mammoth 4-yard TD pass from Jared Goff to Amon-Ra St. Brown, preceded by an in-bounds one-handed sideline catch by rookie Isaac TeSlaa on third down, to make it 28-14 Lions at halftime. The Lions did not let up after halftime.
They added a field goal and a 44-yard bomb to Jameson Williams from Goff during the third period to pad the lead. Amon-Ra St. Brown had two more TD catches (one straight from Goff running out of time to end the game), chipping in a featured performance: 9 catches, 115 yards, 3 touchdowns. The Bears did score on a late running touchdown by D’Andre Swift, but that proved too little too late as Detroit’s advantage at the time was too large. Key performances and implications: Jared Goff was surgical — he completed 23 of 28 for 334 yards and those five touchdowns. For the Bears, Williams had 207 yards, two TDs (both to Odunze), and an interception. The ground game by Detroit was also fierce, with 177 running yards. The win split the Lions’ season at 1-1, and the Bears dropped to 0-2.
