The movie Subservience was released on Sept. 13th, 2024. I really enjoyed this movie and I thought it was interesting and different then other movies I’ve seen before. I’m interested in the popular conversation of robots and AI, which is the main idea of the movie. This movie is available to be streamed on multiple different platforms, including Youtube, Amazon Prime, Google Play, and more. Between August and November 2024, the film was released in select international markets where it grossed a total of $264,096. Subservience was released on online platforms and DVD on December 5 2024. It was 106 minutes long, receiving many good reviews, but resulting in a 5.2/10 star rating.
This movie starred Megan Fox, Michele Morrone, Madeliene Zima, and a few more amazing actors. It was announced that these actors had joined in Dec. 2022. It was directed by S.K. Dale. The producers of this movie were Jeffrey Greenstein, Jonathan Yunger, Yariv Lerner, Les Weldon, Tanner Mobley, written by Will Honley and April Maguire. The cinematography was done by Daniel Lindholm, edited by Sean Lahiff, and music by Jed Palmer, and I’m very thankful for how good of a job these people did with the movie because I did really enjoy the watch.
The plot of this movie is pretty simple yet interesting. The two main characters, Nick and Maggie, are married with a young son and young daughter, but there are some issues in their family. Maggie has an illness that she gets hospitalized for her heart condition, and Nick now needs some help around the house. There are these new robotic maid inventions that they purchase for the house, and the one they get is named Alice, who is played by Megan Fox. She helps fill the role for when the mom has to stay at the hospital, including helping with chores and helping their children. She was helpful at first, but after Nick changed her settings, her behavior was out of control and she started doing weird things. She keeps seducing Nick, and trying to turn into the kid’s mother. This isn’t the only robot that is causing issues though, as there are robots at Nick’s work trying to take over his job. After Maggies undergoes a heart surgery, she comes home, but is still recovering. Alice’s behavior gets worse when she returns, as she tries to manipulate Maggie into having bad thoughts, and even starts causing physical harm. Alice continues this by trying to defend Nick the most she can by destroying the robots who are trying to take his job, and trying to replace Maggie. They thought it was over after she got electrocuted from the water she tried to drown their child in, but it wasn’t yet. Her memory recovered at a hospital, and she attacked the couple. They got severely hurt, but they defeated Alice, and were closer than ever in the end.
Although I really did enjoy this movie, it wouldn’t be in my top 5 because I have definitely seen more interesting movies. I didn’t have any issues with this film though, and I would 100% recommend it to someone else and even watch it again. I also feel like recently there has been a lot of talk of robots and AI taking over, so it definitely fits in today’s topics, and has a lot of realism in it even though it’s supposed to be a sci-fi fiction film.
In conclusion, this movie was pretty enjoyable, and I’d rate it a 8/10. Although I didn’t notice any flaws with it, there could definitely be more details that could’ve made this film more intriguing, but I was still hooked.
