For weeks, President Donald Trump has been talking about sending military troops to many Democratic lead cities throughout The United States claiming the crime rate is rapidly increasing. On Saturday, Trump announced he plans on sending out military troops to Portland, and he plans to stop protests near a immigration enforcement building in the suburban parts of Chicago. In a post on True Social Trump said he was directing the Department of Defense to “provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland.” Trump claimed that it was necessary if he wants to protect US Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities.
Oregon Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek responded to Trump’s comments that he was “authorizing Full Force, if necessary” to handle “domestic terrorists” by saying he is abusing his authority by ordering troops into a city she said is doing “just fine” on its own. This was said at a news conference in Portland on Saturday.
On Monday, Oregon Attorneys filed a motion calling for an emergency order to block President Trump’s troops from being sent to Portland, claiming his motion to do so was “unlawful”.
