Sunday, Sept. 28th was an electrifying day for the fans in Ford Field as the Cleveland Browns visited the Detroit Lions for Week 4 of the 2025 season. It ended with a 24-10 Lions win. The Browns started the game aggressively—running back Quinshon Judkins pushed his way into the end zone in the early stages of the game, delivering a thunder through the stands and giving Cleveland an early 7–0 lead. But all that momentum was reversed in an instant when Detroit countered on the ground with Jahmyr Gibbs to tie the score and put on display an afternoon of defense and turnovers.
As the second quarter was getting underway, the Lions gained control, intercepting two passes and turning them into 10 unanswered points to lead 20–7 at halftime. A closely contested third quarter featured only a fleeting field goal by Cleveland, but any time the Browns seemed to have momentum, Detroit’s defense stiffened, denying big plays and staying disciplined in coverage. In the fourth quarter, Detroit opened it up—Kalif Raymond ignited the stadium with a 65-yard punt return touchdown, and Amon-Ra St. Brown scored again on Jared Goff’s pass to seal the win.
Behind the scenes, Detroit’s defensive line made life miserable: they sacked Joe Flacco time after time, forced a fumble in the red zone, and disrupted Cleveland’s timing all day long. On offense, Goff was careful and measured, connecting with St. Brown twice while making wise plays and not making expensive mistakes, and Gibbs ran hard all the time to keep drives going. Meanwhile, the Browns’ offense faltered—Flacco was picked twice, receivers muffed passes, and special teams gaffes provided Detroit with perilous field position.
As the final whistle blew, 64,494 fans stood and some cheered, most wondering how a solid start for Cleveland unraveled into mistakes and defensive domination. Detroit ended at 3–1 and enjoyed momentum and confidence, while Cleveland fell to 1–3 and was greeted with tough questions about implementation and steadiness in the future.
