Risk of Rain 2 is one of those games that I only started playing a few days ago, but it’s already become one of my favorites. It’s a third-person roguelike action game where you fight through waves of monsters on different planets while collecting items that make you stronger. The game features a compelling blend of fast-paced shooting and strategy that keeps you on your toes. Even though I’m still new to it, I already find it super fun and hard to stop playing.
What makes Risk of Rain 2 stand out is how every run feels different. You start off weak, but as you collect items, your character becomes insanely powerful. Some items stack in crazy ways, so every time you play, you get a new combination of powers and abilities. I like how unpredictable it feels, because even when I lose, I still want to jump right back in and try again.
The characters in the game, known as survivors, are another aspect I really like. Each one has different abilities, which makes them all feel unique. For example, one survivor uses a bow and moves fast, while another has a railgun that deals massive damage to the bosses. I’ve only unlocked a few so far, but it’s exciting knowing there are more to discover the longer I play. It makes the game feel like it has a lot of replay value.
The only thing that kind of bugs me is how confusing the game can be at first, especially since it doesn’t explain much. You just sort of get thrown in and have to figure everything out on your own. On top of that, it feels a little lackluster without the DLCs, which add a lot of new characters, items, and stages—but they also cost extra money. It’s still fun without them, but it definitely feels like you’re missing out on part of the full experience unless you pay more.
Overall, I think Risk of Rain 2 is a really fun and challenging game that’s easy to get hooked on. Even though I’ve only been playing for a few days, I already find it super exciting and rewarding. The random items, unique characters, and intense fights make it stand out from other games like it. It might take time to learn, and the DLCs might be pricey, but once you get into it, it’s totally worth playing.
