LA Dodgers went against the Milwaukee Brewers and won 3-1. It started with an immediate dinger from the Dodgers superstar. Shohei Ohtani led off the bottom of the first with a scorching triple off Brewers starting pitcher Aaron Ashby. And Mookie Betts followed with a double, driving Ohtani home and making it 1-0, Dodgers. However, the Brewers’ pitching staff quickly turned to their bullpen, and the rookie Jacob Misiorowski took the mound with just one out in the first.
Misiorowski was surprising, using his triple-digit fastball to strike out Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernández, stopping the momentum. The Brewers answered in the top of the second. Jake Bauers found a hole for an RBI single off Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow, scoring Caleb Durbin to knot the game at 1-1.
Next four innings were what some call a pitchers duel. Where both pitchers are just striking people out. Glasnow worked into the sixth, shredding up the Brewers’ lineup with eight strikeouts. But it was Misiorowski who was truly the final blow for Milwaukee, retiring eleven consecutive runs.
A stalemate finally broke in the bottom of the sixth. Misiorowski, on his 73rd pitch of the night, gave up a single to Will Smith, followed by a walk to Freddie Freeman. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts kept the pressure on, and Tommy Edman, who had struck out twice against the rookie, lined a low slider into center field for the go-ahead RBI single. Dodgers lead, 2-1.
The Brewers’ momentum fully collapsed seconds later. With the bases loaded and Abner Uribe now pitching, the closer attempted a quick pick to first base, but the throw sailed past the bag and into foul territory. Freddie Freeman, hustling all the way from second, scored on the error. Dodgers lead, 3-1.
The Dodgers’ bullpen, which had been untouchable, shut the Brewers down. This win is going to keep the momentum going for the Dodgers giving them everything they need to win it all.
