REVIEW: The Amazing Spider-Man 2

REVIEW: The Amazing Spider-Man 2

This movie is the sequel to the 2012 reboot. It stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. The movie starts with some answer to a subplot from the first movie.

Let’s start with the time, over two hours and twenty minutes, kinda long but is way over stuffed with villains. The main villain is Electro, portrayed by Jamie Foxx. Electro is almost like The Riddler from Batman Forever, obsessed with the hero and insane. The second villain is The Green Goblin, portrayed by Dane DeHaan. The Goblin is not Norman Osborn in this series but his son Harry. The final villain is The Rhino, portrayed by Paul Giamatti. The Rhino gets less screen time than Venom in Spider Man 3, he is just there to set up the Sinister Six movie.

The plot loses itself it goes to the Peter/Gwen romance then to a subplot followed by another subplot then to a villain then back to the Peter/Gwen romance.  It has its jokes that are funny or just misplaced.

I enjoyed the movie, the effects are top notch. The cast really worked together and it felt as if this was the comics coming to life a bit more than the Sam Raimi films did. Don’t get me wrong, Raimi did really good doing his movies minus the fact that Peter dated Gwen before dating Mary Jane.

The movie will be a great time for children but somewhat of a bore at times for adults. Fans will enjoy it, if they let slide a few mistakes done by the writers, and Stan Lee does make a cameo, not a very long cameo but he does speak. I rate this movie 8.5/10.
