This year’s prom was held from 7-11pm at the Grand Ledge Opera House. The prom committee worked vigorously to present the 2017 dance. The theme was Red Carpet and tickets were sold for $40 until the 24th, as the prices were increased by 5 more dollars.

Junior Class Officer Kiernan Seagers was heavily involved in making sure prom ran as smoothly as possible. She was responsible for making sure the infamous red carpet was hemmed and ready in time form the themed dance.

However, Seagers was certainly not the only prom committee member working hard. Many other juniors including class officers Jade Estes, Macie Casaday, and of course junior class president Johnnie Moore have dedicated time and effort into the production.

“We spent every Thursday morning starting in march up till prom planning decorations but the overall planning for prom has been going on since the beginning of sophomore year,” Casaday said, later adding, “It took us about three hours to set up the day of prom.”

At the dance, there was also a selection of fruits and cookies with beverages at a separate table. There was a surplus of cookies that were thrown out at the end of the night, showing that the food table was not as popular as previous years.

Students that attended were given a card for one free token. This year’s token was a small keychain personalized with each attendee’s prom photos provided by LifeTouch. There was also a photobooth provided in which students could take unlimited pictures for free.

“It was a good keepsake of the night that everyone could have forever and has been popular in the past,” Casaday said.
