What is “Unus Annus” many may ask? The simple answer is that it is a Latin phrase meaning “One Year.” The more complicated answer is that it is a YouTube channel. A channel started by none other than Mark Fischbach from the channel Markiplier, and Ethan Nestor from Crankgameplays.

Mark and Ethan have both been Youtube creators since 2012. Mark has over 12 billion views on his channel and over 24.8 million subscribers. Ethan has 73.7 million views and 1.04 million subscribers. But on November 12th of 2019 this dynamic duo created the channel Unus Annus and on Nov 15th they uploaded their first video. Within the first week the channel had over 1 million subscribers and is still growing. They have uploaded one video a day as promised all spanning from challenges to the topic of death and everything in between. The video runtime is anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes.

The goal of the channel is to challenge themselves, and their ability to create, as well as challenge the rules of youtube while they are at it. When they first started this channel the goals they had in mind were to make videos they wanted regardless of monetization, and the reach YouTube would give them based on the content they are producing. Mark and Ethan do not only want the channel to last for one year and at the end of the year they are deleting the whole thing. They have asked that people do not reupload the videos. They want the experience of the channel to be for those who supported it at the time it was made and not for just anyone.

But for now people are still able to watch the videos, buy the limited time only merchandise, and interact by uploading videos for Ethan and Mark to see and possibly feature on their channel.

So be sure to check out the new, funny, and experimental channel that Mark and Ethan have concocted, and be sure to do it fast because before you know it, it’ll be gone.
