My first impression of the 2020 Disney Plus original film Soul was that it was going to be a very meaningful and inspiring movie and it was going to have a lot of detail and a very heartwarming storyline.
The main characters/actors in Soul are Jamie Foxx (Joe Gardner), Tina Fey (22), Phylicia Rashad (Libba), Ahmir-Khalib Thompson (Curley), Angela Bassett (Dorothea), Daveed Diggs (Paul), Graham Norton (Moonwind), and Rachel House (Terry). The film was directed by Pete Docter (Inside Out, Monsters, Inc.).
Joe is a middle-school band teacher whose life hasn’t quite gone the way he expected. His true passion is jazz — and he’s good. But when he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it means to have soul. Soul is also the first Pixar film to have an African-American protagonist.
A quote from Rotten Tomatoes reviewer Amy Nicholson stated, “You can tell this is a movie where they put a lot of thought into what they wanted to take away from the message about souls and about what unites us… I think it is just an absolutely beautiful film.” The rating on the Rotten Tomatoes website is 96% Fresh Tomatoes from all critics.
My personal rating for this movie would be a 5 out of 5 because not only was it beautifully animated but I think that the meanings in the movie were perfectly executed and it was such a heartwarming film with real life problems, and it is also very diverse with the characters which I absolutely love.
I 100% recommend this movie because it is wholeheartedly an amazing movie and was wonderfully executed and I think that anyone would enjoy watching it.
