After a long wait Gov.Gretchen Whitmer finally announced that high school contact sports can begin games starting Monday, Feb 8th. High school athletes are super excited to finally be able to play winter sports even though their season is getting cut short they are still excited to be able to play as much as they can. Even though the governor is now letting athletes play contact sports they still need to follow Covid protocol and wear a mask and stay six feet apart when not playing. Due to winter sports starting later than expected they will be adding a couple weeks onto each sport so they still get time to play. Gov. Whitmer talked about how Covid-19 numbers are now steady enough to allow contact sports to begin competitions during her press conference last week.
