Track and Field Dives Into Unknown

Makenna Pierce is a 10th grader at Ovid-Elsie High School. I interviewed Makenna to get her thoughts on this year’s spring season sports. Makenna has run track for three years and is one of the sprinters on Coach Nicholas Hufnagel’s track team this year. She attends practice every day after school with the rest of her teammates for about two hours. She stated, “Yeah I’m really looking forward to track this year since we didn’t get a chance to have spring sports last year. I think it should be really fun” in response to when asked if she was excited to run this year. Makenna also went on to mention that she was also looking forward to having Hufnagel as a coach and getting to spend time with her teammates. “I definitely don’t plan on running any of the long distance stuff, I’m more of a sprinter,” she said when asked about what events she plans on doing. Makenna said that as of right now, she plans on running track for the rest of high school but it probably won’t be something she goes to college for. There are currently around 16 girls on the girls track team and we are yet to find out what events we will be in. It is also still to be determined when the first track meet will be and who it will be against.
