Last Holiday, Reluctant Seasonal Stunner

Alyze Ladiski, Staff writer

Last Holiday, a good-hearted movie that was directed by Wayne Wang, is about a woman named Georgia Byrd (Queen Latifah) who
discovers that she has a terminal illness. Reflecting on what she realizes has been an overly cautious life, Georgia withdraws her life
savings and jets off to Europe where she lives like a millionaire. She tries things she would have never thought she would but
because this is the only life she gets and only has so much time to live she realizes she just needs to seize the day and do the things
she’s always wanted to do. Upbeat and passionate, Georgia charms everybody she meets as well. Rotten Tomatometer rated this a
55% with top critic saying, “Although Queen Latifah’s bountiful life-affirming spirit permeates the film, director Wayne Wang is unable
to revive this remake with any real flair.” I think that this movie was really good and shows you how you should always live your life to
the fullest because you never know what may happen. I think Queen Latifah was the perfect choice for this because she just has
such an inspirational and good spirit to her that you just want to listen to anything she says because it seems so important. I also
think the rest of the cast did a good job on their roles. I recommended this movie 10/10, it really helps you to see life from a different
perspective.
