PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie released Sept. 29, and was directed by Cal Brunker. The movie follows the normal PAW Patrol setting and atmosphere with all the loveable characters kids have come to know. PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie grossed $49.8 million at the box office and is sure to make more after being streamed on multiple outlets.
The movie’s plot is simple as it has the smallest pup, Skye, gaining her new powers like a dream and is ecstatic about the new powers. However, their rival breaks out of jail and starts doing villainous deeds to attack the pups. This villain teams up with a mad scientist and makes him into a super villain that the hero pups must defeat in order to bring peace back once more. With the final send off being that even a small pup can make a big change when in a time of need. Overall the reviews for the movie were mixed. Some say the movie is great and an amazing representation of PAW Patrol while others say the movie is bland and doesn’t have much going on. One reviewer simply called the movie a snore while giving it a 2/5 while another gave it a 4/5 with the movie being cute and having great animation being their reasons. Overall the movie got a 76% on the Tomatometer while also getting a 94% on the audience score.
I personally would rate the movie a 6/10. The animation is just as good as most modern films and the story fits the intended audience, not adults. The story, characters, and themes are all perfectly made to the children who watch the show so when an adult sees it, they aren’t thinking like a child is. I would recommend this movie to anyone who has children or wants to see the pups in action.
