Prosecutors Rest Case in Trump Hush Money Trial

On Monday, prosecutors rested the Donald Trump court case after his former lawyer, Michael Cohen had another day of dramatic testimony. One of Trump’s witnesses was called out by the judge for disrespectful behavior. Juan Merchan, the State Judge, scolded Robert Costello, a witness, outside the presence of the Jury. Trump claimed he would testify in the case, although based on what we have seen, it seems highly unlikely he will take stand. Trump was given time to change his mind, but he stood by his original decision to testify. Cohen on the other hand, finished his testimony in a dramatic fashion, claiming he conned Trump and his company out of money. Trump then signed off the hush money in the trial. That morning, Blanche continued questioning Cohen for two more hours. Cohen said Trump “didn’t want to pay because despite the company’s efforts, he placed only ninth on the list.” Blanche asked Cohen if he actually paid Red Finch $50,000. He went onto ask whether that meant he “stole from the Trump Organization,” Cohen replied, “Yes, sir.” Prosecutor made it obvious to the jurors that Cohen had a consistent track record of lying, and elicited testimony about his 2018 guilty plea to multiple criminal charges.
