Colt Gray, a 14-year-old, Apalachee student was charged with four adult counts of murder after fatally shooting two students and two teachers, injuring nine others. Marcee Gray, mother of the shooter, called the school 30 minutes before the attack. She warned the counselor about an “extreme emergency” and told the counselor to find her son, Colt Gray, immediately. According to a student, a school administrator went to Colt Gray’s math class that morning, only to find that her son wasn’t there. Colt Gray was arrested at the school shortly after the attack. He faces four adult counts of murder. Colin Gray, his father, faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children. Colt Gray claims his father provided him with the weapon for the attack.
Officers identified the victims as Mason Schermerhorn, 14, Christian Angulo, 14, Ricky Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53.
Mason Schermerhorn started high school last month and was described by family as “someone who always looked at the bright side of things.”
Christian Angulo, was described by his sister as a “very good kid and very sweet and so caring”.
Ricky Aspinwall worked as a math teacher at Apalachee High School, he was also their football coach. Marquel Broughton, a former player at Mountain View High School, told the Gwinnett Daily Post “His love was genuine, his heart was pure.”
Cristina Irimie was identified as a math teacher on the school’s website. Her students described her as patient and caring. A parish priest said, “She definitely had a gift to work with young people.”
