Hurricane Helene has now stretched more than 600 miles leaving nothing but wreckage
behind. It has affected people living in, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia and the
Carolinas. As of right now, the death toll is at a staggering 107 with rescue procedures underway.
The country is airlifting food and supplies into the areas of necessity. The state is
working as hard as it can trying to get support from any possible organization. 200,000 people
near the South Carolina border, were still without power Monday, shelters across North Carolina
were housing more than 1,000 people.
The hurricane was a category 4 hurricane with 140 mph (225 kph) winds. A damped
force Helene quickly moved across Georgia, then drenched the Carolinas and Tennessee with
torrential rains that flooded creeks and rivers and strained dams.
