Deadpool and Wolverine are two very different characters in the X-Men universe and the Marvel cinematic universe both focusing on antiheroes. Now that Fox no longer owes X-man we can have this crow over with Wade Wilson as Deadpool and Logan/Wolverine. While set in the same universe, both films take completely different approaches to storytelling, tone, and character development, making them stand out from the typical superhero movie. Making them a unique duo in this movie Deadpool breaks the fourth wall constantly, offering a fresh and unique take on the superhero genre much like its Deadpool movies before. Logan, on the other hand, wants to have nothing to do with Deadpool and hates his 4th wall breaks
The tension in Deadpool comes from its unpredictability and the constant humor. Deadpool is searching for a way back to his home and that pushes him to work out some of the trauma that he has. The tension is continued by the non-stop action, making it difficult to predict what might happen next In contrast, Logan builds its tension by slowly talking about his unraveling its bleak world. Set in a future where mutants are all nearly extinct, Logan is worn down by years of fighting and losing all the people that he loves and the young mutant, Laura whom he sacrifices himself for.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Deadpool achieved a decent score of 78% from Rotten Tomatoes and 94% from audiences, reflecting its widespread appeal to the R-rated superhero genre. Its success was partly due to Ryan Reynolds’ performance and the film’s ability to mix in loads of humor, making it a hit both with fans and people who like watching the movie for comic relief.
