Saosin is an American post-hardcore band formed in Newport Beach Calif. On their debut
album Translating the Name they had widely diverse and dynamic vocalist Anthony Green who
played in bands like Zolof and the Rock and Roll Destroyer, as well as Audience of One. His
vocal styling is very high pitched in nature and its what makes his projects stand out.
When I first looked up ratings on the bands discography I was surprised too see this EP was
their only major claimed success, after some digging it seems like Anthony Green left the project
for personal reasons and the band took a decline. Nevertheless I agree with the claims about
this EP, its beautiful and perfect in its unique way.
The vocals on this can be genre-defining, the riffs the ambiance how short and sweet the songs
are without sounding to similar. Anthony Green brings this boy-like whine and the power to back
up his screams. The songwriting on songs like Seven Years and They Perched their Stilts…
cement themselves as classics, they are catchy and capture passion. Theres this air of anxiety
and introspectiveness that draws you in the cries of Anthony.
I really liked this EP and Ill have to check out the rest of their discography
