Hit Man, a 2023 black comedy crime film, which was directed and produced by Richard Linkletter, is a stunningly catchy and fun thriller. Hit Man stars Glen Powell as a psychology obsessed cop who takes up many different personas to catch criminals trying to score a hitman. The basic premise was based on the true story of a college professor who worked for the Houston police in the late 1980s and 1990s as a fake hitman, as described in a 2001 magazine article by Skip Hollandsworth. Hit Man hooks you in from the start, it wastes no time jumping in and gets the premise across right away. The movie doesn’t feel too long or short and paces really well for its almost two hour runtime. I really liked this movie, the whole idea came across as funny and unique, and really worked well as a movie. Critics also seemed to like Hit Man, with a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, and with The Washington Post’s, Ty Burr, saying that hitman was, “a blast of pure pleasure and one of the year’s best films”. In another positive review, Alissa Wilkinson of The New York Times described Hit Man as “romantic, sexy, hilarious, satisfying and a genuine star-clinching turn for Glen Powell”. Overall, if you’re a fan of thrillers, comedies, and even rom-coms, this movie is definitely worth a watc
