Interceptor(2022) is an action thriller film which was an international production between the U.S. and Australia. The movie was released through Netflix on June 3rd, 2022, and climbed to number one on the streamer’s top 10 list with about 50 million hours viewed. It received mixed reviews from critics, and was nominated for Best Production Design at the 12th AACTA Awards. Critics seemed mixed on the film, with 44% of 45 critics’ reviews being positive, with an average rating of 4.7/10. The website’s consensus reads: “Interceptor might spark a flicker of interest in viewers jonesing for a no-nonsense action thriller, but there’s nothing here they haven’t seen before.” I personally really enjoyed watching Interceptor, I originally thought the movie would be another boring army movie that had many slow paced scenes with action sprinkled throughout. However, the film picks up quickly, showing the viewers the setting and the basic plot, without giving away how it might unfold. I thought that it had plenty of action and twists and turns, with some phenomenal acting from the main antagonist and protagonist, Elsa Pataky as Captain Joanna Julia “J.J.” Collins, and Luke Bracey as Alexander Kessel. I would definitely recommend this movie to any action or thriller fan, who enjoys the genre, but doesn’t want to sit through an hour of filler.
