A man has been charged for brutally stabbing his roommate to death, then trying to dispose of the body by cutting it up. This man, Christian Millet, 23, has since been arrainged. The victim, Edwin Echevarria, was “like a grandfather” to Millet, according to an arraignment hearing that took place.
The stabbing took place in New York City, and NYC prosecutors have taken on the case and started investigating. The police had found some body parts floating in a bag in the East River, where Millet disposed of the parts.
Christian Millet was arraigned on Thursday. February 5th was when the investigation started, which is also the same day when they had found some of the victims missing body parts in the East River.
“In court documents, prosecutors said Millet confessed to stabbing Echevarria. They said investigators found blood-soaked paper towels in a closet apartment, along with a potential murder weapon, a screwdriver with a sharp, cylindrical head”, according to the Associated Press.
The reason that Millet murdered this man is still unknown. Although there didn’t seem to be a direct motive, he confessed at the hearing that he just had “an insane urge to kill”.Millet’s murder charges are being held without bail.
Some other parts they found of Echevarrias was a severed torso, which was inside of a duffel bag, along with the other missing parts. There was a message left from him to attorney Shari Leigh Vrod, who is listed as his public defender.
