Drake’s new album, Some Sexy Songs 4 U, is a mess. I don’t know what he was thinking with this one. It’s like he tried to mix a bunch of random ideas together and hoped it would work, but it really didn’t. The whole thing feels kinda slow and repetitive, and not in a good way. There are some decent beats here and there, but for the most part, the production is lazy. The songs just kind of blur together, and I found myself zoning out halfway through.
Lyrically, it’s just a bunch of the same stuff. Drake talks about his feelings, his relationships, and some random drama, but it all sounds the same. I get it, he’s all about that R&B vibe, but honestly, the lyrics feel like he just phoned it in. Nothing really stood out, and by the end of the album, I was just over it. I wasn’t feeling any deeper meaning or emotion, just a lot of “meh.”
There are a couple of tracks, like “Nokia,” which at least has a bit of energy, but it’s not enough to save the whole album. Most of the songs just dragged on forever, and I was waiting for something exciting to happen, but it never did. Honestly, I wouldn’t be mad if a few of these songs just didn’t exist. Some of them feel like filler, just there to make the album longer, and I don’t get the point.
In the end, Some Sexy Songs 4 U just didn’t do it for me. It feels like Drake is trying too hard to capture that old vibe, but instead, he ended up with something forgettable. If you’re looking for a fire album, this isn’t it. This one felt like a waste of time, and I honestly wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re really into super chill and kinda boring R&B.
