Siblings and ex-leaders of Mexico’s violent Zetas cartel were arraigned on Friday in the United States on charges including drug trafficking, firearm possession, and money laundering, the U.S. Department of Justice said. The Brothers , Miguel, and Omar Trevino Morales, or known as Z-40 and Z-42 lead some of the most powerful Mexican Cartels. They were among a group of 29 suspects deported to America from Mexico. This was a result of Trump’s constant pressure on the Mexican government to take steeper action against the Cartels.
The brothers would be picked out from the suspects to be arranged on charges. The brothers would arrive in Washington on charges of continuing criminal enterprise and multiple murder investigations. Other charges would include, conspiring to manufacture and distribute large quantities of cocaine and marijuana destined for the United States, using firearms — including a machine gun — during and in relation to drug trafficking crimes, and conspiring to launder monetary instruments.”
The cartel, Zetas, the brothers were apart of was formed from old Mexican special forces agents. The biggest changes are the murders the brothers are being accused of. Their future lives are looking bleak as the government is almost 100% sure they are guilty. And wants to stick as many charges to the brothers as possible. Trump’s crackdown on the cartel industry while controversial does appear to be showing results. With prominent figures of cartels like the brothers being taken in and charged. These actions won’t completely take out cartel trade and business but will lessen their abilities. This can help America’s major drug problem.
