The New York Yankees showcased an explosive offense, hitting a franchise-record-tying nine home runs in a commanding 13-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.
Following a nearly two-hour rain delay, Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Giancarlo Stanton launched consecutive homers in the first inning, setting the tone for a blowout. The Yankees matched the record they set earlier this season against the Milwaukee Brewers, making them the first team in MLB history to achieve this feat twice in one season.
Manager Aaron Boone praised the performance, highlighting the power of his hitters: “There were some ones that were seriously hit, too,” he noted. Bellinger, Stanton, and José Caballero each contributed two homers, while Judge, Ben Rice, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. added one apiece.
The Yankees now stand at 68-57 and lead the American League Wild Card race, while the Rays drop to 61-65. The teams meet again on Wednesday night in Tampa.
