Ovid-Elsie High School Senior, Mikayla Kelley, was honored with an athletic/academic scholarship to Spring Arbor College or university for bowling. Kelley has been bowling since she was three years old and has been playing in a bowling league since then. She really started to realize that she enjoyed the sport when she joined the high school team her freshman year.
Kelley said her best bowling score to date has been 244 and the key to her success is a lot of practice.
“My favorite part is that it’s something that my entire family enjoys, so I just know that my accomplishments mean a lot to them because bowling is something that also means a lot to them so it makes it more important to me.”
Kelley never really thought about how her bowling could have gotten her an achievement like a scholarship until it became a reality. Kelley plans on studying psychology to become a child psychologist. She will be attending the campus in Jackson, MI, and she signed to attend this school on Dec 28th of 2020 at the Royal Scot Bowling Alley in Lansing.
“I am very excited to start this new chapter in my life.”
Kelley chose to accept the scholarship to Spring Arbor because the school checked off all of the boxes that she wanted in a school.
“It has a smaller campus, smaller class sizes so it’s easier for me to learn, and the people. I already love the people there, they are really nice. It’s just a good environment.”
So, congratulations to Senior Mikayla Kelley for this incredible opportunity, and Go Marauders!
