Working hard, National Honor Society members dedicate their time to help make the community a better place. Each participant is required to complete 15 hours of community service and two group projects. In return for their hard work, advisor Abigail Laurencelle has allowed them to pick a place they would like to visit for a field trip.

NHS officers have chosen to visit Potter Park Zoo in Lansing for their one day excursion. All members of the group will be leaving school on May 10, and returning just before sixth hour.

“I am excited to go because I like the zoo and I like hanging out with other NHS members,” junior and first year member Abagail Halm said.

Although she has been to this zoo before, she is looking forward to seeing all of the animals.

Although junior member Wyatt Hurst says it is dangerous to feed the animals, he is excited to go to Potter Park because he has never been there before. Hurst said he was not only excited for seeing animals at the zoo, but also going to Olive Garden for lunch.

“I am going to get chicken alfredo with breaded chicken because it tastes good.” Hurst said.
